ADULT US SAILING CLASSES

WHY LEARN TO SAIL WITH KSC?

All our instructors are FULLY qualified (not in-training) with US SAILING. They also hold FULL USCG Captain's licenses (not limited), meaning they have many years of verified sea-time experience to share with you. No exceptions.
KSC gives you the most training hours per class. Basic keelboat classes are limited to just 3 students and the course is spread over 3 full days, providing many more hours of 'tiller-time'.
We teach the FULL syllabus, missing nothing out and adding a few extras. We work with our students to help them not just walk away with a piece of paper but ensure they can actually sail the boat. This includes docking, close quarters maneuvering and even sailing on and off a dock. We'll give you additional tuition at no extra cost if you need more time to certify.
We teach the US SAILING curriculum for many reasons. It is the National Governing Body of Sailing and the only sailing organization recognized by US Congress. It works with World Sailing to develop international sailing and the Olympics. It also has learning paths for both cruising and racing- giving you many growth options

Basic Keelboat- 3 full days of on-water learning. Designed to get non-sailors started and those returning to sailing a refresher. Graduates are certified to sail tiller-steered vessels up to 27 feet. Basic Keelboat Private Class- a great option if you find it difficult to take three full days as part of a group class. This private class can accommodate 1-2 students. Pre-class on-line learning by NauticEd is included followed by two 4-hour practical sailing lessons for a single student and three four-hour lessons for two students. Classes are scheduled on a custom basis, please call to book this class. $1795 one student, $2795 two students.

Basic Cruising- Build on Basic Keelboat with this 3-day course and learn how to handle larger boats- up to 42 feet in length with wheel steering and inboard engines. Learn the essentials of navigation, anchoring, docking and more... BOOK NOW Members $995; Non-Members $1395

Bareboat Cruising- get certified as a skipper for multi-day charters. Build the knowledge and confidence to safely charter a vessel anywhere in the world on this 2-day overnight course. BOOK NOW Members $995; Non-Members $1395

Coastal Navigation- five evening classes spread throughout the month where students learn in-depth navigation and chartwork BOOK NOW Members $495; Non-Members $695

Coastal Passage Making- 4 days aboard one of our larger vessels, cruising coastal waters in a variety of weather conditions both during the day and at night. BOOK NOW Members $1995; Non-Members $2695

Private Lessons- available with a 2-hour minimum. Members $125/hour; Non-Members $145/hour

The US Sailing Keelboat Certification System offers seven levels of adult education ranging from Basic Keelboat through Offshore Passage Making. These certifications follow a building-block technique of combining learned skills with experience. New sailors gain knowledge and experience at each level and can take their sailing skills as far as they want to go at their own pace.

Kirkland Sailing Club owns and maintains a fleet of Catalina Capri 22's, J/22's, J/80's, Catalina 30 and Beneteau First 36.7
KSC offers a low student to teacher ratio- just 3 students on Basic Keelboat and also spread over 3 days. This maximizes your time to learn and build skills.
